DoTerra is a company my mom stumbled upon while staying at a hotel while away on a business trip. The rep and my mom got to talking and my mom came home sharing with me all of these wonderful things about the amazingness that is essential oils. I was hooked instantly and signed on under my mom. The company is based in Utah and sells single oils, blends, beauty products, soaps, toothpaste, you name it! I love their products and my family and I use them practically every day. What I love most about DoTerra is how much education they give throughout their website, videos, brochures and pamphlets. I have learned so much since I have started with them. Did you know, Essential oils are lipid soluble and are capable of penetrating cell walls, even if they have hardened because of an oxygen deficiency. In fact, essential oils can affect every cell of the body within 20 minutes and are then metabolized like other nutrients. (You can find more essential oil facts here)
I’ve been doing the DoTerra thing for almost a year. I thought when I got into it that I’d have a good side gig going. I haven’t sold a thing haha. Oh well! I’ve enjoyed learning about the oils and finding awesome recipes for the every day! Everything from homemade cleaning products to luxurious bath bombs. I love anything holistic and without harsh chemicals and I’m always looking for new recipes. I find all of the different oils so interesting and useful in so many different ways. Deep Blue is great for achy muscles. Lavender not only is great for relaxing but works wonders on coughs if you mix a few drops in a carrier oil such as coconut. Melaluccha (teatree oil) is great to clear up congestion but also has fantastic purifying and cleansing qualities. It just amazes me how much such a tiny drop can do.
Some of my favorite recipes:
Toilet Bowl Cleaner:
– baking soda
– Lavender Essential Oil
– White Vinegar
Sprinkle some baking soda inside the bowl, a couple of drops of lavender essential oil and some vinegar. Let sit for 10-15 minutes and then scrub. So simple and yet an amazing cleaner! Even great for clearing up drains.
– 1/4 carrier oil (coconut, olive, almond or an oil of your choice)
– 2-3 drops of Lavender Essential oil
Mix together and rub on chest.
– 1 cup epsom salts
– 2-3 drops of Lavender oil or an oil of your choice
Pour epsom salts in bath tub and then add a couple drops of oil directly to water.
If you are making the Bath Salts as a present, put a couple of scoops of epsom salts in a big bowl and add the essential oil directly to the salt. Mix together and put in containers!
